Within the International Day for Monuments and Sites, the award by European Union / Europa Nostra was officially handed out at the Atrium of National Museum in Belgrade on April 18th 2007, to Center Mnemosyne for the study on threatened heritage of Kosovo and Metohija. The award was handed out by Mr. Denis de Kergorlay, Vice-President of Europa Nostra.
The award of European Union and Pan-European Organization for Heritage Conservation Europa Nostra is awarded annually for the most successful conservation project of a European monument, for the best prepared restoration and revitalization project, for individual results in field of conservation, as well as for research work and expert-scientific study on heritage. The announcement of the award for 2006 going to Center Mnemosyne for the study on threatened heritage of Kosovo and Metohija was already presented in Madrid, in presence of Queen Sophia of Spain. This is the first time that an organization from Serbia was awarded such a prestigious recognition.
The award ceremony in Belgrade was planned by the Ministry of Culture of Republic of Serbia and the City Assembly of Belgrade and organized by Europa Nostra, Mnemosyne and Europa Nostra Serbia.
