Objectives of the action

The project aims at developing a sustainable civil society dialogue between Serbia and the EU through multidisciplinary and original actions in the field of traditional heritage diversity.

The specific objectives of the project are

• to support cooperation between professional organisation and/or civil society organisation dedicated to book craftsmen know-how in order to enhance new and sustainable partnerships among artistic and cultural milieu between Serbia and the European Union
• and to favour better knowledge and mutual exchanges of common heritage related to book craftsmen know-how by promoting networking activities and sustainable partnership; e.g. linkage between MANUMED existing network and the Turkish new network.

Target group(s)

The project will :
• Support craftsmen with ancestral skills and working in respect with of popular art and traditions. Unobtrusive know-how which contribute to the preservation of cultural diversity and need to be developed.
• Support Civil society organisations as medium to foster mutual understanding between European and Serbian citizens.

• Improved knowledge of piece of Serbian culture for European citizens
• Improved ownership of Serbian people of their own culture legacy and capacity building
• Favour mutual knowledge and understanding between EU and Western Balkan and Serbia
• Improved capacity of CSOs for policy formulation in the field of training and professionalization in the traditional arts sector
• Development of channels for cultural exchanges, networking and partnerships, good practices exchanged
• Improved conditions for preservation and ownership of cultural heritage

Main activities

I . Activities on heritage to facilitate dialogue and mutual understanding among civil society organisations from EU, Serbia and the Mediterranean area

• Raise the importance of development and protection of the traditional handcrafts among the people as well as the experts.
• Support to activities from traditional craftsmen, namely those working on traditional book making.

II. Activities in the fields of dissemination to general public in order to develop ways of cultural exchanges and to increase handcraft productions (in relation with Manumed Project from EuroMed Heritage IV Programme);

• Raise Public awareness on the importance of the diversity of European cultural heritage.
• Incentive action to raise Civil society organisation in Europe, Serbia and the Mediterranean involved and interested in the project.

III. Awareness raising activities to improved capacity for training and professionalization in the cultural and handcraft sectors:

• Trainings and awareness raising to problem related to art works traffics and counterfeiting of patterns and items from traditional handcraft; identification of troubles, professional trainings to risks and methodology to fight and prevent counterfeiting.

• Exchange of experience and knowledge between European and Serbian experts in this field and specific support to craftsmen willing to pass on their know-how to young people.
