Second half of 2011, beginning of 2012.
Project Culture at Skadar is going to present new facts on life of Serbs at Skadar and northern Albania, based on study of one of the largest and most important regional photo-collections, Photo-collection Marubi at Skadar. The Serbian cultural public was previously introduced only to an almost negligible number of photographs from this collection. It is particularly important to note that this collection includes data from the period 1858-1959 and that all information on photographic details was carefully recorded by several generations of owners of Photo Studio Marubi until the collection was established in 1974. Research performed on this collection by Serbian experts would be the first such study during the existence of the collection.
Research and activities in one of the most important photo-collection in Europe, including the material that is specifically documenting life and culture of Serbs in Skadar during a longer period of time.
Contributing to study, recovery and promotion of intangible cultural heritage in the region.
This project is aiming from the broadest Serbian cultural public, particularly the improvement of situation with the Serbian community in Albania. Its contribution has high overall importance, through publishing the data of exceptional importance for development and conservation of cultural identity and heritage, which provides evidence of shared life, contribution and acculturation of Serbian community into the religiously and ethnically complex environment.
