The objective of the Project is to initiate a debate on advantages and limits of the implementation of international standards in the field of natural and cultural heritage under circumstances marking the present situation in Kosovo and Metohija.
Explanation - Launching of the project is directly related to the fact that the new heritage law has been being drafted in Pristina for more than two years under the supervision of Legislative Support Task Force of the Council of Europe, without Serbian representatives.
The estimation of MNEMOSYNE Center is that Serbian professional circles show certain lack of interest, not only for this matter, but also for possible consequences of putting in force of a legal act that would not adequately treat all the aspects of complex multi-ethnic heritage of Kosovo and Metohija.
In order to meet the needs of the project work, MNEMOSYNE provided translations of relevant conventions, recommendations and gudiance books designed under the auspices of the Council of Europe and presented them in the book Cultural Heritage, published in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia and the Coordination Centre of Serbia and Montenegro for Kosovo and Metohija.
