Project Kosovo and Metohija INTERPRETATIVE CENTER (KiM IC) should study and develop the methods that will enable increase in social responsibility and awareness on modern questions and themes related to life, culture, history and tradition of Kosovo and Metohija.
By utilizing, developing and improving the museum activities and exhibitions, the Project (KiM IC) strives to relax and amortize some of the hot spot questions in Serbia, simultaneously contributing and enabling a new approach to museums in Serbia toward all the societal themes (both from past and from present).
The main goals of the project:
Dissemination of information and interpretation for proper understanding of the broadest modern discourses on socio-economic and cultural conditions at Kosovo and Metohija and their connections with the events in previous periods; creating an open institution and a public forum creating new audience which is able to watch, learn, debate and discuss all the issues relevant for the community; communicating with the widest groups of Serbian society and their sensitization to participation in enhancement of conditions at Kosovo and Metohija; enhancement of those segments of culture that may survive the social baggage of burning topics and difficult questions (Ames, 1990, Cultural Empowerment).
It is expected that the conclusions of the Conference will influence reaching the decision on establishing KiM IC as a public institution of special national interest and long-term character, so the executive decision would be reached on budget financing of the basic activities of the Center.
The activities during the project will contribute to development and recognition of interests of future initiators of projects and services, leading to permanent financial sustainability of KiM IC as well as the continuation of the impact and activities of the Center on new users of cultural services.
The interpretative center has the conditions necessary to become the center of excellence for gaining knowledge and skills of creative communication, so it is expected that it will invoke a great interest in future participants of seminars, training courses and other means of education and learning.
